Pulled this one out of my ancient repository of pictures – This is Pangong Tso in Ladakh. Notice the stark change in the ruggedness of the range. What appear to be rolling hills on the left are actually 22k feet high peaks with the base at an altitude of about 14K. On the right ,I am told is China Tibet, now a part of China – the steep hills prove to be a natural barrier for human movement.
